Strafford, MO Sports Complex
The City of Strafford purchased the sports complex in March of 2011. The complex was in poor condition when the city purchased it.
Since the city acquired the complex we have built new dugouts, new storage building, new ticket office and remodeled the concession building, replaced the outside stairs and painted the building. Tore down the old retaining wall and replaced it with new concrete wall with railings, and placed a new railing around the patio area in back of the concession building. Replaced the wood on the small bleachers and tore down the large metal, unsafe, bleachers. Replaced the old 3 ft baseline fences with 6 ft high fences, also put up yellow poly-cap fence guard on all the fences in and surrounding the complex, we also replaced the dugout field gates. We also took up the old cracked asphalt and for now replaced it with gravel and graded and leveled the infields. The parking lot has been graded with new gravel and a Tractor Pull track has been added. Also are working on the field light poles, fixtures, bulbs and wiring.
The City of Strafford hired Loren ‘Lou’ Curtis as the City Parks and Recreation Director. Lou has been involved with the complex off and on since 1995. He has a lot of experience in forming leagues and scheduling. He is also a well known umpire with USSSA from doing state to world tournaments. He is a good fit for the City of Strafford he believes in that we can run great programs for both the youth and adults and have one of the nicest complexes in the area. It’s where you can come and play ball with your buddies, or watch your children play ball, and at the same time have a great family experience.
So come on out to Strafford Sports Complex and share a great experience that you and your family will remember for forever.
